Our little furry friend has a small but practical backpack, carry bag or suitcase we make sure to pack with essential items when we go on vacation. This time, we’ll be staying at pet-friendly cabins in Branson, MO. From fun activities to beautiful places, this city has everything we may need to have a great time with our four-legged BFF.
Many cabins in Branson, MO, are pet-friendly and feature amenities for pups, such as beds and bowls. But we still want to make sure we pack a dog suitcase with all the gear and treats our doggy could need. The question is, what should we bring along for our trip? Find the answer below!
Finding the Perfect Suitcase
In Branson, pet-friendly lodging is often available. But, as mentioned, we may still have to bring essential travel accessories and supplies. That’s why we always prepare a dog suitcase.
At this point, you may be wondering if it’s possible to find a dog suitcase, so here’s our recommendation: use a cooler!
Our beloved dog’s suitcase is just a cooler on wheels, but it has been a game-changer. We always bring peanut butter because there’s nothing our furry BFF loves more than that. This insulated container prevents it from becoming too gloopy and is resistant to damage from most accidental spills.
Moreover, our dog suitcase has mesh side pouches that keep the most important things within reach, such as medications and documents.
Dog Suitcase Essentials
After finding the ideal cooler to use as our dog suitcase, the next step is to pack everything we and our beloved four-legged friend could need for this trip.
This is what we always bring with us to a pet-friendly adventure, but remember that your list may vary based on your doggo’s needs:
- Peanut butter: Our pup just loves it, so bringing some is non-negotiable. We also pack a couple of plastic knives for easy serving.
- Chew toys: Dogs can take some time to adapt to unfamiliar surroundings, so we also pack some of these toys to help our pup manage anxiety and get used to the new destination. Plush or rubber, whatever your dog prefers most!
- Medications: We always make sure to pack our little furry friend’s medications, especially if a dose date falls on a day we’re away. Our dog takes a monthly heartworm and flea/tick chew, so we have to make sure and pack that when a trip falls on the dosage date.
- Dog wash shampoo miniatures: We usually pour our dog’s favorite shampoo into travel-size bottles before a trip. This allows us to save a lot of space in the suitcase. Dogs can get dirty on trips that include lots of outdoor adventures, which is something Branson has a lot to offer.
- Dog brush: Besides helping us get rid of fur knots or mats, our dog loves to get brushed. So, we never forget to pack this small but indispensable accessory before a trip.
- Favorite dog toy: Yes, we bring our dog’s favorite toy besides the chewable ones. It always helps our little best friend get familiar with a new place. But we always pack those that are non-squeaky, as we don’t want to bother our rental neighbors.
- Dog bowls: Even if the rental where we’re staying advertises that cabins or rooms include bowls, we always carry a light and non-breakable one, just in case. Those that can fold and fit in almost any space are the best option, especially for long walks and hikes..
- Dog food and treats: Our dog won’t just need peanut butter, so we also make sure to pack some food and treats (a little more than the time length calls for) including those that we can use as a reward for proper travel behavior!
- Dog bed: We know that our dog will end up sneaking into our bed to sleep with us. However, we always pack our four-legged friend’s foam favorite (or at least a comfortable pet-friendly cushion and dog towels).
