Science has proven it: the more time you spend in nature, the more relaxed and happier you are. To get your dose of weekly nature exploration, Branson, Missouri is one of the best places to go. But before packing up, find comfortable cabins that you can stay in while you’re away from home.
Henning State Forest
The Henning State Forest has a number of enjoyable hiking trails. It is also the perfect place to go to when you’re interested in nature studies; a naturalist is ready to answer your questions about plant life, living organisms, ecosystems and other nature subjects. This conservation area also provides you with the spectacular, calming view of the countryside.
Lakeside Forest Wilderness
The Lakeside Forest Wilderness highlights the beautiful colors and the ruggedness of Branson’s outdoors. The challenging hiking trails, the scenic view of Lake Taneycomo and the 315 stone steps leading to the lake’s shoreline have been calling adventurers from all over the country.
Lake Taneycomo
After sweating it out on the trails of Lakeside Forest Wilderness, you can go straight to Lake Taneycomo. It is a haven for fishing enthusiasts, as it is one of the country’s premier brown and rainbow trout fishing areas. Aside from fishing, other activities you can do here include scuba diving and boating.
Moonshine Beach
After spending time in the forest, take yourself to the waters of Moonshine Beach. This is the largest sand beach in southwest Missouri. Be warned though, what’s under the water can be a little rocky, but it’s always great for a foot massage!
